A musical in LA
We did a bunch of small things this week!
On Tuesdays during the summer, the little town centre area near us does live music, so a group of us went to go and check it out. It was very busy and lots of people had brought their own chairs to be able to get a seat up front. It was fun and we sat at the back chatting and seeing some people we hadn't seen in a while which was nice.
Afterwards, we all went for taco tuesday at a cafe in Downtown. It was called Taco Station and was decorated just like an retro gas station. The tacos were good and we had one filled with potatoes.
On Wednesday I went for another hike with Stephie. This time we went to crystal cove to do a beach side hike. We arrived in the morning and parked up in the sandy car park. We took the hiking trail which straight away had some amazing views of the sea. There were still lots and lots of wildflowers around too which was nice to see in the middle of summer.
Along the trail we also saw several long snake trails cutting across the path. It's hard to guess the size of the snake from them, but they were all a few centimetres thick. At one point we actually saw the tail of one slither into the bushes at the side of the path! It didn't have a rattle, so it wan't venomous, but was still startling to see.
After our hike, we sat down on the beach for a little while, watching the waves and the seagulls as we ate.
On Friday, we drove to Vivian's house and then she drove us all into LA to go and see a musical. We ate at a nice Italian restaurant beforehand where Mitchell got fancy mac and cheese and I got a pumpkin ravioli. It was very sweet, and the sauce was so creamy it almost felt more like a desert by the end.
We then walked over to the theatre and found our seats for Into the Woods. It was very good and all about various fairytale characters meeting up and their stories intertwining.
On Saturday morning, we went for a little breakfast date at a cafe in Riverside. It's called PS I Crepe You, and sells crepes, but is also very very cute inside. It's all pink, with flowers and a few signs with quotes from girly movies and TV shows.
We also went to a grand opening for a smoothie chain, and got a free smoothie for the way back.
On Sunday, we went out for breakfast again. We tried to go to a nice French cafe, but it turned out they required reservations and we didn't have one! So we put a bookmark in that and went to the IHOP across the car park instead.
In the afternoon, Mitchell got a haircut and then we went to the board game cafe with Stephie and her husband Milan. We played lots of games and then went for dinner afterwards too.
Love you lots
Emily and Mitchell
