Australia pt 2: the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest

 We flew up from Sydney and landed in Cairns in the afternoon. We were staying in the city for a few days to do some exciting activities before heading out on another roadtrip. We checked out the night market on that first night, which was smaller than we thought, but we got some dessert.  The second day we went for breakfast and then spent most of the day by the pool or going to the supermarket. We sorted out all our admin, I wrote up the Sydney blog, and we just caught up a little bit.  Cairns is a small, but interesting town, made up of tourists, workers and indigenous people, many of whom seemed to make up the poorest members of the community.  The second day in Cairns, we caught the scenic railway to Kuranda. Australia pt 1: Sydney and the Blue Mountains

The next country we were on the way to was Australia!  We were starting in Sydney, and more specifically, Bondi Beach. After three weeks of roadtripping around an increasingly chilly New Zealand, a few days on the beach was just what we wanted. We arrived in the evening and checked straight into our little loft room for the night. In the morning we went to explore the area and check out the sea. There were some really big waves that week, and they'd actually caused some damage further along the shore. Swimming was off the menu, but we did enjoy watching and lying on the beach. We also did some beach shopping to get me a hat and a new swimsuit, and ate lots of smoothies and acai bowls.  The hostel we were staying in held some activities while we were there, so I did an early morning yoga class (which even by 8:30am was pretty hot) and we joined a group for a trivia night at the local brewery which turned into drinks (boys) and ice-cream (girls).  On our final day, we did p...
