Mitchell rests his knee
After our big trip to Yellowstone last weekend, we had a more chilled weekend while Mitchell's leg was still recovering. It's doing better, but the recovery time is long.
We went to the Barn which is a bar on campus on Friday evening to meet with people we knew and some newer international scholars. We didn't stay too long (it closes at 8pm) and didn't need the temptation of dancing later in the night.
Saturday was also a slow day, but we did go out to watch our friends do a flash mob at a market in Riverside. They were displaying all the classes the studio does which turned out to be a lot of dances, but they raced through them pretty quickly and were fun to watch.
The market was pretty small and didn't have much on sale, or much food, so once the dancing was done we went home for the night.
The next day, we drove out to Huntington beach. We'd been to this beach briefly before, but only to the outskirts. This time we went to the pier for a beach day. A couple of friends were going surfing, and they'd invited us to join, but with Mitchell's knee we decided to try it out at a later time. Only two went surfing, but there was a big group of us hanging out on the sand, playing card games and eating snacks. The weather still isn't great, but it was warm enough, and I even went into the sea for a bit to splash in the big waves.
We then all got some tacos, which were really tasty and stuffed with fillings. Everyone else went home at this point, but me and Mitchell went to go and see the improv show as we were already in the area. That was fun and it was nice for Mitchell to see his group perform, even if he wasn't in it this time.
That was it for our week, but we did get to go and see the Little Mermaid and the new Spiderman film over the last couple of weeks. At least going to the movies is a Mitchell's knee approved activity!
Lots of love,
Emily and Mitchell
