Ontario (the California one, not Canada)

This week in March had Pi day (the date is 3.14) so we had a pie gathering to celebrate! I baked some mac and cheese pies and some jam tarts and we went to a friend's house where everyone else had baked (or bought) pies too. There was peach pie, banana cream pie, chicken pot pie, spaghetti pie, cheesecake and more! We were very full by the end, but had a fun time with all the people and food.

The weekend started off with some pizza and drinks on campus with the international group. This bar stayed open until 10pm - so late compared with the other one, but still crazy early.

On Saturday we drove over to Ontario for a vegan fair. This was the same one we'd been to a few weeks ago, but bigger. They'd advertised loads and loads of vendors, but because they'd changed the date a few times, a lot were missing, but there were still a lot of options to choose from. We got some "chickn" burgers and a smoothie and then looked at the stands selling organic soaps and crafts.

As we were in Ontario, we decided to check out the local museum too, so we walked through the little town to visit. It was the first nice day we'd had in ages and we had warm blue skies all day. The museum had a little garden out front, and even a small fountain.

They had two exhibitions on that day; the permanent one about the history of Ontario with information about the indigenous groups, early settlers and the vineyard industry of the area. The other exhibition was an art exhibit with the theme "we the people" and had art from lots of artists about resistance, black history and self identity in America.

After the museum, we went home for dinner and then out to Downtown Riverside for a concert. We saw Skinny Lister, an American band I've already forgotten the name of, and Flogging Molly. The venue was the municipal auditorium which from the outside is just like the other Spanish style buildings in the area with a pointy chapel-like roof. Inside was similar, but with a big stage up front. I didn't get many pictures though, as we were a little late arriving and didn't have any time to spare between sets.

On Sunday we had a lie in after our late nights and then went out for a quick doughnut date and errands.

Until next time,

Emily and Mitchell
