Festivities

It's been quite the week of festive events! On Tuesday after we went camping we went to a Friendsgiving; like Thanksgiving, but held for friends. There were about 15 people and everyone brought a dish to share. There was traditional food like turkey, cornbread and mac'n'cheese, and some exciting things like jambalaya and Pakistani style rice. We even had Mexican style cheesecake and flan for dessert. 

Then, on the Thursday, we went into Downtown Riverside to see the festival of lights! We'd been promised a big show with vendors and carriage rides, but all that had been shut down this year (and I'm guessing last year too), but we got to see the light displays which had been put up all around the city.

We then got some pizza and went to a popular doughnut place where there were so many flavours! They were all huge, so we shared a lemon pistachio flavoured one, but they had maple, rocky road, strawberries and cream, snickers, and so much more.

On Saturday, we got Christmassy ourselves! We'd gotten a Christmas tree back in June from the people who sold us our car and were moving away, so we opened that up and started decorating. 

We also went to Target to pick up some more bits and now have some very sweet birds all wrapped up for the cold on our table. We also bought a lot of other stuff that I can't remember, Target is like a big Tesco that has more home section and less food. Mitchell did get a Kinder Egg and we had great fun opening that up when we got home.

On the Sunday, we went on a little date to what we'd been told was the fancy cinema (which seemed to be pretty much the same as the one we usually go to) to see Encanto which was a lot of fun. We then tried to get Taco Bell, but all the doors were closed, so we were very American and went through the drive-thru instead. 

This weekend we're off camping again and hopefully it won't be as cold as last time! (we have hats this time though so we should be ok)
